The Mississippi River near LaCrosse, WI has retuned to normal fall levels after a big fall flood that hit in early October. It's dropped back to fishable levels again, and the bite is hot right now! Typical 4 hour trips are producing over 100 largemouths, with full days up to 200! Not all of the fish are big, but still great fun. Right now rattlebaits are producing best for us, but jigs, spinnerbaits and soft plastics are also working. Bluegill and perch fishing is excellent right now. We are seeing perch up to 15 inches and bluegills over 9 inches. Worms or minnows are all that's needed.
Walleye and sauger fishing is just getting good. With the dropping water temps, things should really heat up in coming weeks, prior to ice. We're also catching some nice Northern pike right now.
The fall colors have peaked, but it's still a beautiful time to be out on the river!
Thanks for reading my reports, and good fishing!
