Last week the smallmouth bite has really improved. All three trips we had have produced some very nice fish up to 19 inches. Best baits were a swimming jig, Punisher “Flame” spinner bait and a Punisher small jaw shaky jig with a Paca chunk. Clear water weed beds were areas where the moving baits produced, and main channel rocks provided the jig action. These areas are producing both smallies and largemouths. The fish were fairly shallow, but near deep water. Also picked up a bonus walleye or two. Water levels have been fairly stable with good visibility. Trollers have been catching some good walleyes, sauger and northern pike. The weather has been absolutely fantastic with temps in the mid to upper 70’s. Now’s the time to plan for your fall fishing trip in beautiful SW Wisconsin near LaCrosse, WI. Give me a call or shoot me an email for information.
