Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 6/4/11
This past week on Guntersville was good and bad; the good was the fishing was absolutely great, the bad was the heat was tough on the body. If you judged this past week by the cover, in others words figured it was so hot the fish wouldn’t bite you made a fatal mistake as we caught some big fish and the numbers were very good and despite some tough heat we had a blast all week long.
The top water bite is getting better every day; and that first hour or more of daylight is just a blast. We fished several types of top water baits all produced explosions and all were a lot of fun. My favorite has been the Pro-Assassinator Buzz Bait; the bass are just eating it up, and not just a little suck down strike, it’s a make or break attack.
After the top water bite ended daily we then headed out to the humps and ledges and found the soft plastic bite as strong as it’s been this year. As everyday there was some down times but for the most part there was a great daily activity for most the time on the water. I believe fishing will stay strong most of the summer all you need to do is adjust some for the heat. I have 6 hour beat the heat trips, we start around 5 am and are off the water by 11 am and fishing is strong and you’ve missed the hottest part of the day!

Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/28/11
This past week has been as good a fishing week as we have had on Guntersville; the bass are spreading the lake. The bite is easy, as you can find fish on just about any pattern with any kind of bait; the top water bite is strong and if you want to fish deep you can do that also. Guntersville is in the time of year that any fisherman, regardless of experience or time on the water, can catch fish.
If you like worm fishing it is great, top water is great, cranking is good, just any way you want it there is a bass that can be caught by you! Shallow, or deep and all depths in-between the bass are biting and you can find a way to have some fun.
This week the numbers were strong the size was fair and we had fun everyday on the water. As the summer moves in the grass will thicken and we should see the flipping bite get strong also.
I do have 6 hour trips available for those that want to be off the water before the day gets too hot. Fishing is great and there are many good times to come!

Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/14/11
This past week was as good as it gets on Guntersville, the bass are hitting all kinds of different baits from soft plastic worms, crank baits to Punisher Spinner Baits, and if you wanted the big bite Tight-Line jigs in black and blue are producing the bigger bites. It didn’t take a lot of work to get bites or land some good numbers of fish; fishing was relatively easy for the average fisherman.
This past week I spent three days fishing with a group that included the Head Basketball Coach of West Virginia Bob Huggins, he and a group of eight fished all week with us, they had a blast and we did also.
Fishing is great; the bass are moving and feeding all over the lake. If you haven’t been on the water lately it is time to do so. You can’t miss right now; if you can fish a worm you can catch a fish.

Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/7/11
I only had an opportunity to spend one day on the water, as I have been trying to clean up my property and work with insurance adjusters to figure out once again where to start to get things around my property back to normal after being struck by a tornado for the 2nd time in 2 years. They say the chances of winning the lottery are better than being struck by a tornado twice in a period of 2 years, so maybe I can win the lottery; I sure am going to try.
The fishing was really good the day I hit the water with my clients from South Georgia we caught a lot of fish and had activity just about all day long with an exception being the noon time frame. The bass are spreading the lake as they do in the post spawn period and just about any pattern that you fish will eventually pay off. Most of our fish came fishing soft plastic baits, from dead sticking to lizards and worms. The numbers were high the size was down but we sure had a blast.
I should be back at it strong next week fishing just about every day; and I expect to start seeing some great top water activity. All is well around the lake as things get back to normal!

Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/16/11
This week has been the best yet for numbers of fish caught; I have been part of days on the water this past week where clients are getting bit every 5 to 7 minutes or more all day long. That to me is catching at its best! Sure they are not landing every bite but the activity is there and the day passes quickly when there is this much action.
The bass are coming off the spawn and starting to move to the humps, grass edges, ledges and points; finding them was easy and my customers had a blast! It’s certainly a time of year where most folks can figure out a pattern and catch a fish or several fish. The thing about this past week was soft plastic baits, like worms, creature baits and lizards all caught fish. One of the keys was working your soft plastic bait slowly so you could feel every movement on the end of your line. The bigger fish are still hitting Tight-Line jigs for me, I am still fishing a ½ oz. in black and blue color; the problem is the post spawn bass is about 2 lbs. smaller than a few weeks ago as a result of the spawn.
A great week, I had some extremely nice customers, they fished hard all day and their effort paid off with great catches!
