Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 5/2/09 This past week has been the best the lake has had to offer so far this year, the only way not to get a bite was to stay home. So if you got to the water I know you were catching fish. We are in that time period where the bass are hitting just about anything you fish with, there is a lot of bites and the chance of catching a big fish comes with every hook set. Bad weather, rain, nasty, wet it didn’t matter the elements were not a factor. The only disappointing thing to me so far this week was that I haven’t seen the big fish hit the river channel and tear that big spinner bait out of your hand. I do however believe that we will see it this week, and that the pros coming for the B.A.S.S. Southern Challenge will catch the winning sack on the river channel on Punisher Spinner Baits. With the warming water we are starting to see the grass return in spots and that is a sign that it is only going to get better. I spent most of the week in the mid to upper river fishing Mister Twister Comida’s, lizards, finesse worms, some SWL buzz baits and caught some on Punisher Spinner baits. A great week with some great customers averaging 25 to 35 fish on the long days and a good solid 5 to 7 lb fish most everyday also. Come fish Guntersville with me, I have days available to fish with you! Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/26/09 The week was full of different types of fishing days; we reached a dead period in the middle of the week, which generally occurs after the spawn. The early and later part of the week was as strong as it’s been this year. The heat is here we have gone from winter to summer again and the grass is finally starting to grow. Find the grass lines and you have found the bass. This past week I went from working stumps and wood on the edges to the humps and grass lines. The adjustment period lasted about 3 days where we struggled for bites and then they turned on all over the lake. We had catches on the slow days of 8 to 10 fish and on the good days of 25 to 35 fish with a giant just about every day. Lures this week; we caught top water fish on Secret Weapon Lures buzz baits; I believe these are the best buzz baits on the market. You can buy them on line at www.secretweaponlures.com and use my case sensitive discount code FLGGS9 and get a 30% discount off of list price, this bait is amazing! We also caught fish on Mister Twister Comida’s and big worms and lizards. Early in the week we caught them on Punisher’s Spinner baits in Ghost color, I look to this week for the spinner bait bite to really turn on! The fishing is great and it should be great early summer fishing, my next open date is the 1st of May and other dates on into May are available. Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/18/09 As good as it gets, that is the only way to describe this past week on Guntersville. We caught good fish all week, several fish in the 7 lb. range and days with 25 to 35 bass. I can’t remember when we have had so many good days back to back. The only bad news was it took a little time in the mornings to find the pattern that produced but when you did it paid off. One of my favorite lures has always been a jig, however in the past years for me I have struggled some to catch fish on a jig but this year has just been the best in several years. The jig bite has been as productive for me as it was in the 80’s. Tight-Line Jigs in crawfish color are producing big fish and lots of them. We have also caught lots of fish on Mister Twister big worms; watermelon red in color has been great along with their lizard in June bug color. We are also starting to see the Punisher Spinner Bait bite turn on, their new Guntersville Royal shad color is stating to produce and it will just continue to get better. Most of my fishing this week has been from 7 feet of water to 3 feet and most has been in the back of the creeks. Find a little cover and your catching fish. I spent just about every day in the mid river with one day down on the south end. Come fish with me I have days open in April and on into May! Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 4/4/09 This past week on the lake was again different every day. Cold mornings, rainy days, warm mornings and sunshine made for a different day every day. If you stayed at it long enough the bass were very cooperative. We caught them every day, we had to find different presentations, some days they hit on top others were slow moving baits but we caught a lot of fish. The top water day was unbelievable we had some monsters on Secret Weapon buzz baits in Guntersville red color. We were shooting a TV film and I must say it will be a great show. Another day we caught them on Mister Twister worms watermelon red in color, we had strikes every 5 minutes and just wore them out. Most the fish have been shallow and plenty have been bedding, we caught a lot of bucks and several good size females. I fished the mid part of the lake most of the week but did spend one day up river. This best is here it is time to get on the water, if you haven’t you have missed some great days and great times. Come fish with me I have days available to fish with you. Fish Lake Guntersville Guide Service www.fishlakeguntersvilleguideservice.com Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 3/28/09 The threat of bad weather all week didn’t pan out but the bass fishing was excellent! Just about everyday the weatherman was giving severe weather warnings and as usual they are wrong, but the overcast skies and rain did help the bite, we caught good solid fish this past week and it isn’t over yet. They are still telling us the weather is going to be bad this up-coming week and I suspect the bass fishing will continue to be great. We had several great days, we had a 9-pound fish caught, we had a 25 lb. plus best five and the numbers were up also. It just doesn’t get much better than it was this week. The bass are starting to hit top water baits, the spinner bait bite is coming and just about anything you fish will put fish in the boat. The bass are starting to spread the lake, you can catch them shallow, medium depths and off the ledges. That means that no matter how you like to fish there is a way to put fish in the boat. I spent most the week in the mid river and one day down in the lower end the result was the same, great catches and plenty of opportunities. Tuesday I will be filming a TV show with one of my sponsors Secret Weapon Lures if the good times continue it should be a great show. Come fish with me I have days available all through April to fish with you!
